Welcome to the 34th Annual Excellence in Financial Journalism Awards
The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants’ Excellence in Financial Journalism Awards celebrates the year's best distinguished reporting that cultivates, promotes and disseminates understanding of accounting, finance and business topics.
Winners will be chosen based on the creativity and relevancy of their entry to the category submitted. Deadline for all submissions is February 21, 2016. Winners will be notified April 14. The 2017 EFJ Awards program will be held in New York City June 29 at Robert DeNiro's Tribeca Grill.

Commentary: Exemplary economic, financial, accounting or business editorials, columns, syndicated columns, blogs, video commentary or analysis.
Investigative: For an economic, financial, accounting or business story in any medium or combination of media that features in-depth research, reporting and creativity.
Beat News Reporting: Exemplary coverage of a business, financial or economic beat. Maximum three elements per submission.
Personal Finance: Excellence in business journalism that intends to inform, educate and protect individuals and the general public. Maximum five elements per submission.
Explanatory: Exemplary in-depth analysis and clear presentation of a complex business, accounting or financial subject.
Independent or Affiliated Online Story (Large Media: circulation or daily online visitors of more than 200,000): Any independent or affiliated news website that produces a content piece exclusive to the Internet. Independent online publication are stand-alone sites not owned or partnered with print or broadcast media. Affiliated online publication are those owned by or partnered with media organizations whose primary outlets are not based on the Internet.
Independent or Affiliated Online Story (Medium to Small Media; circulation or daily online visitors of less than 200,000): Any independent or affiliated news website that produces a content piece exclusive to the Internet.
Radio/Online Digital Audio: Exemplary coverage of a business, financial, accounting or economic news story using radio, podcasts or other online audio formats.
Television/Online Digital Video: Exemplary coverage of a business, financial, accounting or economic news story using television, webcasts or other online video formats.
Book: This category will recognize the best best business, economic or finance-related book, open to any particular subject matter or topic.

Additional information about the Excellence in Financial Journalism Awards is below.
- Any business, finance or accounting-related news story published in the 2016 calendar year is eligible for entry. The journalist or the outlet may submit the entry.
- Categories include print, TV, radio, and online news stories.
- There is a $75 initial entry fee. Any additional submissions from the same contestant are $50.
- Deadline to enter is February 21.
